The 28th annual Jefferson Hospital Philadelphia Distance Run has been the premier half marathon in the U.S. for over a quarter century. The tradition continues in 2005. The 13.1-mile half marathon is set for Sunday, September 18, 2005.
Enjoy a scenic and historic course through many of Philadelphia’s celebrated sites. From the start line by the Philadelphia Museum of Art, runners head towards Center City on the legendary Benjamin Franklin Parkway. After passing City Hall and Independence Hall, you will head back up Benjamin Franklin Parkway as the course rolls into the serene and picturesque Fairmont Park along the Schuylkill River.
If your not quite up to a half marathon, there’s the fifth annual Big Walk for Little Feet, a three-mile walk that raises funds for all the babies born at Jefferson Hospital.
For the kids, there’s the Philadelphia Children’s Run, featuring races and entertainment for children between the ages of 3-12.
Prior to the run, visit the Philadelphia Sports Clubs booth at the Health Expo at the Marriott Downtown on Friday, September 16 and Saturday, September 17. Exhibits will feature free samples, fitness seminars, health screenings, the latest running shoes, sports apparel, and health and nutrition products.
